ASIA OVERLAND 2002
Changing from traditional to digital photography has allowed us to experience new image processing techniques which would be hard to manage by digitalizing slides. In this page we have collected some panoramic pictures built by merging different digital images and processing them with some software.
By clicking on each thumbnail you will open the panoramic pictures viewing them in their original size.

THE MISCHABEL RANGE FROM HOHSAAS (Switzerland)

It's the dawn of 2006, June 25, and I've just waked up at the Hohsaas Bergrestaurant, 3.098 m, where I came up the evening before for climbing the NW face of the Weissmies, 4.023 m. It's a wonderful morning without any clouds. Anyway, I already know that weather is shortly going to get worse and worse and I have only few hours for climbing my mountain.
The camera is a Canon 20D and the images have been processed by PhotoStitch 3.1.

Il Gruppo del Mischabel
Monte Rosa and Mischabel
1375 Kb, 7245x1550 pixel

The original pictures have been shot by the Hohsaas Bergrestaurant (3.098 m). On the left side of the image, dark in the main foreground, there are the spurs of the Weissmies NW face (4.023 m). Then, on the horizon, you can see the whole Mischabel group.
On its very left, far in the background and just lit by the sun, you can recognize well enough the four main tops of the Monte Rosa range. From left to right:

- Gniffetti (4.556 m)
- Zumstein (4.563 m)
- Nordend (4.609 m)
- Dufour (4.634 m)

Then, moving to the right, in foreground and still dark, the Mischabel range extends all along the horizon. From left to right you can sharply see all of the ten 4000 meters peaks belonging to this range:

- Strahlhorn (4.128 m)
- Rimpfischhorn (4.198 m)
- Allalinhorn (4.027 m)
- Alphubel (4.206 m)
- Täschhorn (4.490 m)
- Dom (4.545 m)
- Lenzspitze (4.294 m)
- Nadelhorn (4.327 m)
- The small tooth of Hohberghorn (4.219 m)
- Dürrenhorn (4.035 m)

THE SKY OVER ZERMATT (Switzerland)

A beautiful day with very clear sky over the Swiss Alps around Zermatt has given Carlo the chance for shooting these panoramic pictures. The camera is a Canon 20D and the images have been processed by Panorama Maker 3.0.

The black walls in the foreground just in the middle of the picture are the Grandes Murailles, which overlook Cervinia and Valtournanche. The highest summits are the twins peaks of the Jumeaux (3.878 and 3.872 m), just in the middle of the picture, and on their right the Margherita summit (3.905 m).
Shifting rightward, you can see the high and peculiar summit of Dent d'Herens (4.171 m). Then, right in foreground, the unmistakable shape of Cervino/Matterhorn (4.478 m) which fills up the picture. Eventually, at the very right of the image, you can see the wonderful white pyramid of the Dent Blanche (4.356 m).
