Orizzontintorno
(Horizons Around) is a red line all the way through our travels
- whether they are horizontal, vertical, virtual, told either
by words or images. It's a place for people like us, constantly
searching further and higher.
We're not real Travellers, although we would like to be, and
keep on aspiring to become such. To be precise, we move from
place to place, always going back to the Start like in the Monopoly
game. We're not real alpine people either - at the most it can
be said we collect peaks.
Alpinistically speaking, only one of us is a real mountain climber.
Travelling, on the contrary, is something we do together, more
and more often. But none of us has been on a real mountain travel
or can talk about a "mountain" of travels. Nevertheless,
we've got backpacks and bags full of scattered pieces, we've
got thousands of slides on our shelves, hundreds of thousands
of kilometers on our shoulders, loads of souvenirs and small
bottles of sand we brought from deserts and strands from all
over the world. And also such a capacity of daydreaming that
surprises even us, sailors on this world, free spirits with
no frontiers, surely homesick of our harbour, but always ready
to leave it as soon as we reach it after a long travel.
Orizzontintorno gathers all these scattered pieces, old, present
and future ones. Its ambition is to become not only a hub, but
also a landing harbour for sailors who, like us, collect flags
on world maps and peaks, invariably and obstinately convinced
to be slightly different than all the others. |
