It's hard to say what a man who climbs an 8,000-meters peak and
a war surgeon have in common. Or a man who, centuries ago, traveled
to conquer the unknown and a man who decided to retire from a clearly-won
competition in order to start his own Travel toward a different
destination.
Maybe the answer is "nothing". Or, maybe, it's the prime
necessity, which lies within each of us, of satisfying one's own
ego and to travel as a protagonist, not as a passenger.
Orizzontintorno gathers in these pages a small tribute to some individuals,
chosen among a number of others, some still living and some not,
that we think represent, each in his/her own way of being rather
than way of travelling, real Travellers.
We followed no specific criteria of choice to select our travellers.
Simply, we love their travels. And their way of travelling.
Compared to these people, we don't feel at all as travellers; we're
probably just tourists in a world that can be traveled in many different
ways.
